SA537 Class 2 Boiler Sheets and Plates consist of carbon (up to 0.24%), manganese (1.10–1.60%), silicon (0.15–0.50%), phosphorus (up to 0.035%), and sulfur (up to 0.035%). These plates are heat-treated by quenching and tempering to improve their mechanical strength. They have a minimum tensile strength of 620–795 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 450 MPa. SA537 Class 2 possesses high toughness, impact resistance, and weldability and is thus suitable for critical pressure-containing vessels that are exposed to higher pressure and temperature conditions.
