This non-magnetic steel shows outstanding work-hardening ability, with its hardness rising from about 200 BHN to more than 500 BHN upon impact or wear. It has high tensile strength of 850–1350 MPa and superior elongation of 35–50%, giving it a rare balance of strength, ductility, and toughness. The alloy holds its structural integrity under harsh wear conditions and is hard to machine but very weldable with proper method.
