Sheets and Plates of Nimonic 80A consist of about 76% nickel, 19.5% chromium, and lesser proportions of titanium, aluminum, and carbon. The above constitution enables the alloy to be precipitation-hardened for added strength. It provides a tensile strength of approximately 965 MPa and good creep and stress-rupture properties at temperatures up to 815°C. The alloy also exhibits excellent resistance to oxidation and scaling, which makes it extremely durable in high-heat conditions. Nimonic 80A has good workability and weldability when heat treated correctly.
